Server Requirements
Before proceding, it's important to make sure your server meets the following requirements:
- PHP version 5 (or above) - this is imparitive to the correct operation of the system. Most hosting platforms support this, though some default to v4 with the option to upgrade to 5.
- MySQL version 5 (or above) - another imparitive requirement. The system uses MySQL to index your files and maintain system data.
-
OPTIONAL: The system has the ability to create backups of your projects. If you'd like to use this feature you will need to ensure that your server allows use of the PHP exec() command as well as support for generating .tar files.
Installation Procedure
After ensuring that all server requirements are met you can follow the steps below to install the system:
- Upload the contents of the WIODE system to your server in whichever directory you wish to run the system. This directory must be web accessible.
-
Ensure that the following file and folders are writeable:
/config.php, /workspace, /backups - Create a database to install the WIODE core onto. Ensure that you have the connection information to access the MySQL instance.
- In a browser, navigate to the location you uploaded WIODE. The installer will start automatically and ensure all dependencies are met and take you through the installation process.
It is highly recommended that you set the permissions on the file /config.php back to read-only at this point.
Upgrading
If you already have the system installed and are upgrading to a newer release simply replace the entire contents of the /system folder. You will want to log out of the system and reload it, allowing the system to run any additional modifications required.
